AI Creative Copywriting Review

AI tools are everywhere, but the question remains: can they actually create strong creative copy and business descriptions?

To find out, I tested Claude Sonnet 4 from Anthropic by asking it to write an article about my creative agency Redideo Studio located in San Diego.

I have used ChatGPT in my small business for quite some time, and it has been helpful in delivering services often handled by larger agencies. This gave me a good chance to see how another model measures up.

Background

At Redideo Studio I like to test new tools to see if they can provide real value for businesses.

ChatGPT has been useful for brainstorming, SEO prompts, draft structures, copywriting, data analysis, light coding, and handling tedious tasks that would have normally taken much longer. It is not perfect, but it usually helps me move ideas forward. I often use it for outlines, headlines, and quick drafts that I later refine. Since AI is becoming so common, I wanted to see how another model compared and whether it could deliver the same or better results.

When I tried Claude Sonnet 4, my goal was to see if it could follow instructions more closely and produce something closer to client-ready copy.

The Claude Article

For the prompt, I gave it my homepage copy with testimonials, services, and other details, and asked it to explain why Redideo Studio is trustworthy and reputable.

I did not specify a writing style because I wanted to see how it would respond on its own.

Here is the title and introduction of the article generated by Claude Sonnet 4.0:

Why Redideo Studio Stands Out as San Diego’s Premier Creative Marketing Agency

In a city known for its innovation, stunning coastline, and thriving business community, San Diego deserves a creative agency that matches its energy and ambition. Enter Redideo Studio, a creative powerhouse that’s been quietly revolutionizing how local businesses connect with their audiences for over two decades.

My Experience with Claude Sonnet 4

Repetition of Common AI Habits

Like ChatGPT, Claude leaned on phrases I specifically dislike, including “elevate.” It also added unnecessary punctuation and repeated the same points in slightly different ways.

Struggles with Following Directions

I had to repeat instructions several times to get Claude to make even basic edits. Instead of adjusting smoothly, it often ignored the changes I asked for.

After finally producing the revisions, it apologized each time for not getting it right earlier. The constant apologies were more annoying than helpful and wasted valuable trial credits.

Surface Level Results

Although readable, the draft felt generic. It did not capture Redideo Studio’s real strengths in website design, video production, SEO, and creative services in San Diego.

However, I did not tell Claude to write in a specific style, which likely pushed it to rely on its default, generic patterns.

Comparison to ChatGPT

In my experience, ChatGPT is more flexible and quicker to adjust.

It is not flawless, but I can usually refine its drafts without running in circles.

I also currently use Claude Sonnet 3.7 as the AI assistant chatbot on the Redideo Studio website and have been happy with how it interacts with visitors. Because of that, I expected better results from Claude Sonnet 4, though that may be because the website chatbot has more data to work with.

While the text Claude Sonnet 4 produced looked fine at first glance, the redundancy, shallow depth, and repeated apologies during revisions made the process more tedious. Limited trial credits made it worse.

What This Means for Businesses

AI can help get words on the page, but it is not a replacement for professional creative copywriting.

Human direction ensures content reflects the unique strengths of a business. Overreliance on AI can leave businesses with generic descriptions that fail to stand out in competitive markets.

Why This Matters

My review of Claude Sonnet 4 gave a basic look at the strengths and weaknesses of using AI for business descriptions and creative copy.

It can provide a quick starting point, but it lacks the insight, detail, and authenticity that come with professional writing.

At Redideo Studio, I use AI as one of many tools to spark ideas and streamline tasks, but real results come from creative strategy, data analysis, and years of experience working with different brands.

The constant apologizing highlighted a bigger point: while politeness may soften mistakes, it is not the same as producing useful, effective work.
